Working with Schools
I provide highly specialised, trauma-informed social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) support to Primary, Secondary, Specialist and Independent schools. My aim is to support staff to understand and respond to the children and young people in their setting with greater confidence and effectiveness. Benefits include greater evidence of need, reduced behaviour, more time teaching and learning, less staff overwhelm and burn out and robust APDR evidence for EHCP Assessments of Need.
My approach
Drawing on over 25 years of experience in education, teaching, leading and advising in the field of SEND, in early years, primary, secondary and specialist settings, I understand school systems from the inside.
My work with schools is grounded in a wealth of experience alongside child development theories, attachment theory, trauma-informed practice and neuroscience. I help schools move beyond behaviour management towards a deeper understanding of what behaviour is communicating.
I work collaboratively with school leaders, SENCOs, class teachers, teaching assistants and pastoral staff, offering a flexible and responsive service that can be tailored to your school's specific needs and priorities.
Services
What I offer
SEMH Consultancy
Ongoing consultancy support for school leaders and SENCOs, helping you develop whole-school approaches to social, emotional and mental health that are evidence-informed and sustainable.
Staff Training and CPD
Bespoke training for teaching and support staff on a wide range of topics. I am able to create training that is specifically designed around your schools unique needs.
Individual assessments
My assessments of an individual's needs draw on a range of insights from discussions with parents/carers, teachers, TA and pastoral staff; observations in class; and direct work completing a specific standardised assessment linked to the individual's needs. Insights are collated into a thorough report with recommendations.
Staff Supervision
I offer supervision to school staff as a dedicated space to support confidence, bring clarity of thinking and reduce overwhelm around complex and challenging situations. Whether you are navigating a difficult case, feeling the weight of a child's needs, or experiencing the early signs of burn out, supervision provides a structured, confidential and supportive space to reflect, recharge and move forward with greater clarity and purpose.
Who I work with
Who I work with
I work with maintained schools, academies, free schools and independent schools across the early years, primary, secondary and specialist sectors. I am equally comfortable working in small village primaries and large secondary schools.
My work can be commissioned on a one-off basis — for example, a training day or a single assessment — or as part of an ongoing consultancy arrangement. I am happy to discuss what would work best for your school.
